G-Dep Confesses To 17-Year Old Murder

It’s not everyday people walk into a police station and confess to a murder they committed nearly two decades ago, but that’s just what happened Wednesday night.

Travell Coleman aka G-Dep confessed to murdering a man on October 19, 1993 in Harlem, New York.

“It was just eating away at him,” a police source told The New York Post.

Police say they are sure Dep commited the crime because he knew details only the killer would know.

According to Dep he was riding his bike when he rolled up on 32-year old John Henkel, who he attempted to rob. Henkel resisted and was shot three times.

Dep was once signed to Diddy’s Bad Boy Records and had a hit records with “Special Delivery” and "Let's Get It" in 2001.

Remember The Tho

Recently though, the rapper has fallen on hard times, battling a reported heroin addiction.

He’s been arrested at least 25 times since 2003 for a variety of crimes including grand larceny and robbery.

George W. Bush Still Tight With Kanye

Kanye West probably shouldn’t look for an invitation to any of former President George W. Bush’s coming book parties.

Of all the critics who took aim at Mr. Bush in his eight years as president, Mr. West seems to stand out in his memory. In Mr. Bush’s new memoir, “Decision Points,” to be released next week, he recalls with anger and resentment Mr. West’s accusation after Hurricane Katrina that “George Bush doesn’t care about black people.”

In the book, a copy of which was obtained by The New York Times on Tuesday, Mr. Bush writes that he was “disgusted” and “deeply insulted” by the accusation, telling his wife, Laura, that it was the lowest moment of his presidency. He expanded on that in an interview with Matt Lauer of NBC News scheduled to be shown Monday.

“I didn’t appreciate it then. I don’t appreciate it now,” Mr. Bush told Mr. Lauer, according to excerpts released by NBC on Tuesday night. “It’s one thing to say, ‘I don’t appreciate the way he’s handled his business.’ It’s another thing to say, ‘This man’s a racist.’ I resent it. It’s not true. And it was one of the most disgusting moments in my presidency.”

The interview with Mr. Lauer will kick off a series of events for Mr. Bush to promote his book and also effectively re-enter the public arena nearly two years after he left the Oval Office. He also plans to go on Oprah Winfrey’s show and will preside over a groundbreaking ceremony on Nov. 16 for the George W. Bush Presidential Center at Southern Methodist University in Dallas that will serve as a reunion for hundreds of veterans of his administration.

Mr. Bush’s recollections of Hurricane Katrina and its aftermath form one of the 14 decisions he analyzes in the book. While rejecting accusations that he did not care enough about the suffering in New Orleans, Mr. Bush acknowledges that he did not respond as effectively as he should have.

“I should have recognized the deficiencies sooner and intervened faster,” he writes. “I prided myself on my ability to make crisp and effective decisions. Yet in the days after Katrina, that didn’t happen. The problem was not that I made the wrong decisions. It was that I took too long to decide.”

He adds: “I made an additional mistake by failing to adequately communicate my concern for the victims of Katrina. This was a problem of perception, not reality. My heart broke at the sight of helpless people trapped on their rooftops waiting to be rescued.”

Mr. Bush regrets the Air Force One fly-over above New Orleans that fed the perception that he was not being personally proactive enough. While he still thinks landing in New Orleans would have been a mistake because it would have diverted resources from ongoing rescue efforts, he says he should have landed at Baton Rouge to make clear how seriously he took the crisis. He recalls how Lyndon B. Johnson flew into New Orleans after a hurricane in 1965 and made his way into a shelter by flashlight calling out, “This is your president! I’m here to help you!” Mr. Bush writes, “Unfortunately, I did not follow his example.”

In his account of the chaotic days following the storm, Mr. Bush pinpoints the failure to send in federal troops sooner. He recalls pressing Gov. Kathleen Blanco repeatedly to let federal troops come into Louisiana but she resisted. So did Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld, citing Posse Comitatus, the law prohibiting the use of the military for law enforcement purposes on American soil absent an insurrection.

“That left me in a tough position,” Mr. Bush writes. “If I invoked the Insurrection Act against her wishes, the world would see a male Republican president usurping the authority of a female Democratic governor by declaring an insurrection in a largely African-American city.”

In the South, that “could unleash holy hell,” he adds. “I was as frustrated as I had been at any point in my presidency.”

Tiny Pleads Not Guilty To Drug Charge

T.I.'s wife Tameka "Tiny" Cottle pleaded not guilty to a misdemeanor drug possession charge, after she was caught with ecstasy and arrested along with her husband T.I., in Los Angeles on September 1st.

Both T.I. and Tiny were arrested on the Sunset Strip, after the rapper made an illegal U-turn.

When police stopped the rapper's Maybach, they allegedly smelled the odor of burnt marijuana and searched the vehicle's occupants.

Officers found ecstasy on both T.I. and his wife, Tiny. They were charged and released on $10,000 bail on September 2nd.

Cottle entered into the not guilty plea yesterday (November 1st), the same day that T.I. surrendered to authorities to serve an 11-month prison sentence for violating the terms of his probation with the drug charge and other infractions.

Last week, Los Angeles prosecutors dropped the same charge against T.I., because he has already punished with his 11 months in prison, which he is serving in an Arkansas prison.

In October of 2007, police charged Cottle with possession of ecstasy, which was found during a raid of her house, as police searched for a cache of guns relating to T.I.'s arrest for attempting to buy machine guns prior to the BET Awards.

Tiny's next court appearance is for a pre-trial hearing, which is slated for January 6th in Beverly Hills Superior Court.

President Obama To Hire Jay-Z For 2012 Campaign?

The New York Post reports Obama's camp may use Jay-Z to pull in the youth and minorities in 2012

With the next election quickly approaching in 2012, the Obama camp is strategizing for re-election. According to the New York Post's "Page Six" column, they are considering using Jay-Z to reach the youth and minority voters.

"I can't believe you've finally heard the chatter about him replacing Larry Summers," Deputy White House Press Secretary William Burton told the Post. "In all seriousness, keep in mind he was pretty active during the 2008 election, so I don't think it'd surprise anyone that he would be involved again. But it's a little premature."

The 2012 Presidential election will be held on November 6, 2012.

Video: T.I. Speaks After Helping Save Suicidal Man

Here’s some footage of Tip on the scene of yesterday’s incident, explaining to the cameras what transpired and the roll he played in talking the suicidal man down off the ledge. His PR people must be creaming their pants. They could’ve worked a month straight and couldn’t have possibly orchestrated anything that would’ve played out as sweet as this did.

Jay-Z Spoils Grand Mom With Lavish Party

To celebrate his grandmother's birthday, the singer and his wife Beyonce Knowles treated her to Liberty Warehouse in New York City.

Jay-Z is a generous grandson - the hip-hop mogul and wife Beyonce Knowles treated his grandmother to a lavish night out in New York City to celebrate her 85th birthday. The hip-hop supercouple picked up the rapper's grandmother, Hattie White, in a Rolls-Royce, and chauffeured her to Liberty Warehouse, a posh restaurant in his native Brooklyn with views of the Statue of Liberty.

According to the New York Post, the revellers were treated to Southern American cooking, and were entertained by dancers from the Boys and Girls Club, a social association promoting citizenship among young people.

Jay recently spoke out about spending more time with family and friends, admitting he's worked hard to splurge on himself and his loved ones. He explained, "That's what I enjoy. That's the payback for all the hard work."

T.I.'s Probation Officer Recommends Prison

Prison time for T.I. is inevitable, although prosecutors and defense lawyers representing the rap star are arguing in court over how much time he should spend in prison for violating his probation.

According to reports, T.I.'s probation officer has recommended a sentence of eight to 14 months in prison, while lawyers for the rapper countered that at most, T.I. should be sent to prison for 5 to 11 months.

At 2:00 PM on October 15th, T.I. will find out just how much time he will spend behind bars, for violating the terms of his probation on September 1st in Los Angeles.

Police stopped the rapper around 10:45PM on the Sunset Strip, after he made an illegal U-turn in his Maybach.

A search of the occupants revealed that T.I. and his wife Tameka "Tiny" Cottle were carrying a controlled substance, later identified as ecstasy.

Additionally, T.I. tested positive for drugs during a test conducted after the traffic stop.

T.I. was on probation after being released from prison last March, after serving a year for attempting to purchase machine guns and silencers in October of 2007, just before the BET Awards.

Feds Use Rap Videos And Tweets Against Ra Diggs

A rapper who boasted on Twitter about beating a murder rap is a violent drug kingpin who flooded Brooklyn's Gowanus Houses with crack and heroin, the feds said Wednesday.

Ronald (Ra Diggs) Herron, charged with eight others in a federal indictment, provided prosecutors with a wealth of incriminating evidence in his YouTube videos and in his Twitter musings.

He tweeted that he has "5000 nig*as with them lorcins [handguns] ready to turn the pigs kids into orphins," federal court papers reveal.

The videos depict the ex-con wearing body armor and brazenly firing guns at a target range.

In them, he boasts he ordered a shooting from his hospital bed and "beat a body" - a reference to his 2002 murder acquittal after two witnesses were threatened and refused to testify against him.

Herron warned against people "snitching" and mentioned a murder in the Gowanus Houses housing project of a victim who reportedly helped authorities, Assistant U.S. Attorneys Shreve Ariail and Carter Burwell said.

The prosecutors said Herron was wounded by a rival drug dealer in 1998 and the gunman was killed two days later by Herron's cousin.

Herron, 28, was arrested by NYPD detectives early Tuesday outside Club Amnesia in Chelsea. He was arraigned in Brooklyn Federal Court and ordered held without bail.

A loaded 9-mm. handgun was found in the glove box of the Dodge Charger that Herron was riding in, authorities said.

"That s--- ain't mine and you ain't gonna find my prints on it," the driver, Algenis Caraballo, said after taking cops on a brief chase along W. 29th St.

Herron's crew had been linked to four killings but none is charged in the three-count indictment.

Brooklyn U.S. Attorney Loretta Lynch said the crew "victimized an entire housing development."

Undercover detectives made more than 65 drug buys from members of Herron's crew at the Gowanus Houses since 2008, many of which were recorded on video that could put the dealers in prison for at least 10 years.

Herron could face up to life in prison if convicted.

"Getting violent drug dealers and dangerous weapons off our streets is a recipe for safer neighborhoods," said Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly.

Teens at the project said they knew Herron by reputation - as a rapper.

The Florida drug trial of Jamaican reggae artist Buju Banton ended in a mistrial on Monday when jurors said they could not agree on a verdict after three days of deliberations. The 12-member jury had been meeting since Thursday after a four-day trial at the U.S. Courthouse in Tampa. U.S. District Judge James Moody said a retrial would not begin until at least December.

T.I. & Tiny Arrested in L.A. (UPDATED)

Clifford and Tameka were arrested late last night in Los Angeles after their Maybach was pulled over on Sunset Blvd. and the officers smelled the aroma of piff wafting from the vehicle. They were later released on $10,000 bail (which seems kinda steep for some trees), but I’m sure somebody from the U.S. Attorney’s office is going to want to holler at him about this. Not to mention that, to some folks, this will pretty much negate all of that new leaf turning over he was spitting during his weapons case.

UPDATE: T.I.’s Maybach was pulled over because they made an illegal U-turn. The cops then smelled the weed aroma and decided to search the car. TMZ is now alledging that they found methamphetamines and ecstasy in the car and that both T.I. and his wife might be facing up to a year (Tiny had been stopped for weed and ecstasy in the past.)

President Obama declares end to Iraq war

The NYDailyNews reports:

WASHINGTON - A somber President Obama declared an end to the long and costly Iraq war Tuesday night, pledging he now intends to "turn the page" to America's economic revival.

"The American combat mission in Iraq has ended," Obama told the nation in an 18-minute address, only his second from the Oval Office. "Operation Iraqi Freedom is over, and the Iraqi people now have lead responsibility for the security of their country."

The U.S. will help Iraq develop a stable government and keep up the increasingly difficult fight in Afghanistan, he pledged. But Obama asserted that "our central mission as a people and my central responsibility as President" is reinvigorating the limping economy at home.

"Today, our most urgent task is to restore our economy and put the millions of Americans who have lost their jobs back to work," he said.

S/O 2 Nicki Minaj Becomes First Female To Top Billboard Rap Charts Since Lil Kim

Continuing to look past the negativity, Nicki Minaj scores big after making Billboard charts as the first single by a female emcee to top the Rap Songs category in over seven years.

Trust folks, it wasn't "Massive Attack".

Under the radar until recently, her second single "Your Love" claimed the Rap charts, a feat that was only accomplished by Lil Kim's "Magic Stick" featuring 50 Cent, along with Missy Elliot getting it done solo with "Work It" back in '02, according to Billboard.

Drakes First Week Sales

1 DRAKE YM/CASH MONEY/UNIV MOTOWN 462,989

So Drake didn’t sell a billion copies of Thank Me Later huh. I can’t say I’m all that surprised. I figured he’d probably do a respectable 500-600K, but I was also prepared for him to do something completely ridiculous like 2 million. Over saturation can either work for you or against you and this seems to be a case of the latter. Not that I blame his handlers/Universal for flooding the market. That’s what your supposed to do with an artist that’s buzzing right? I suppose. I think there’s a balance that needs to be struck though. You don’t want people to walk into the record store and say “who the fuck is this guy”, but you also don’t want them thinking, “not this fucking guy again”.
