President Obama To Hire Jay-Z For 2012 Campaign?

The New York Post reports Obama's camp may use Jay-Z to pull in the youth and minorities in 2012

With the next election quickly approaching in 2012, the Obama camp is strategizing for re-election. According to the New York Post's "Page Six" column, they are considering using Jay-Z to reach the youth and minority voters.

"I can't believe you've finally heard the chatter about him replacing Larry Summers," Deputy White House Press Secretary William Burton told the Post. "In all seriousness, keep in mind he was pretty active during the 2008 election, so I don't think it'd surprise anyone that he would be involved again. But it's a little premature."

The 2012 Presidential election will be held on November 6, 2012.

President Obama Talks About What's in His Ipod

What music have you been listening to lately? What have you discovered, what speaks to you these days?

My iPod now has about 2,000 songs, and it is a source of great pleasure to me. I am probably still more heavily weighted toward the music of my childhood than I am the new stuff. There’s still a lot of Stevie Wonder, a lot of Bob Dylan, a lot of Rolling Stones, a lot of R&B, a lot of Miles Davis and John Coltrane. Those are the old standards.

A lot of classical music. I’m not a big opera buff in terms of going to opera, but there are days where Maria Callas is exactly what I need.

Thanks to Reggie [Love, the president's personal aide], my rap palate has greatly improved. Jay-Z used to be sort of what predominated, but now I’ve got a little Nas and a little Lil Wayne and some other stuff, but I would not claim to be an expert. Malia and Sasha are now getting old enough to where they start hipping me to things. Music is still a great source of joy and occasional solace in the midst of what can be some difficult days.

President Obama declares end to Iraq war

The NYDailyNews reports:

WASHINGTON - A somber President Obama declared an end to the long and costly Iraq war Tuesday night, pledging he now intends to "turn the page" to America's economic revival.

"The American combat mission in Iraq has ended," Obama told the nation in an 18-minute address, only his second from the Oval Office. "Operation Iraqi Freedom is over, and the Iraqi people now have lead responsibility for the security of their country."

The U.S. will help Iraq develop a stable government and keep up the increasingly difficult fight in Afghanistan, he pledged. But Obama asserted that "our central mission as a people and my central responsibility as President" is reinvigorating the limping economy at home.

"Today, our most urgent task is to restore our economy and put the millions of Americans who have lost their jobs back to work," he said.
