BUJU BANTON SCORES VICTORY IN COCAINE TRIAL
The Florida drug trial of Jamaican reggae artist Buju Banton ended in a mistrial on Monday when jurors said they could not agree on a verdict after three days of deliberations. The 12-member jury had been meeting since Thursday after a four-day trial at the U.S. Courthouse in Tampa. U.S. District Judge James Moody said a retrial would not begin until at least December.

President Obama Talks About What's in His Ipod
What music have you been listening to lately? What have you discovered, what speaks to you these days?
My iPod now has about 2,000 songs, and it is a source of great pleasure to me. I am probably still more heavily weighted toward the music of my childhood than I am the new stuff. There’s still a lot of Stevie Wonder, a lot of Bob Dylan, a lot of Rolling Stones, a lot of R&B, a lot of Miles Davis and John Coltrane. Those are the old standards.
A lot of classical music. I’m not a big opera buff in terms of going to opera, but there are days where Maria Callas is exactly what I need.
Thanks to Reggie [Love, the president's personal aide], my rap palate has greatly improved. Jay-Z used to be sort of what predominated, but now I’ve got a little Nas and a little Lil Wayne and some other stuff, but I would not claim to be an expert. Malia and Sasha are now getting old enough to where they start hipping me to things. Music is still a great source of joy and occasional solace in the midst of what can be some difficult days.

According to Rap-Up, Kanye’s dropping his (still-untitled) fifth studio album on November 22nd, which is the Monday before Black Friday. But what does this say about him and Jay’s Watch The Throne album, that was rumored to be dropping on 11/23? Other albums dropping that week: Nicki Minaj’s Pink Friday and Lloyd Banks’ HFM2.

XXL REPORTS: Just as Kanye returned to his roots to scoop up Common, he recently recruited his buddy Brooklyn rapper/singer/actor Mos Def into the GOOD Music fold. Long regarded as a formidable talent by underground devotees and mainstream fans alike, Mos appeared on “Two Words” (from Kanye’s 2005 The College Dropout) and “Drunk and Hot Girls” (from KW’s 2007 Graduation). Since his 1999 solo debut, Black on Both Sides, Mos has increasingly been pushed — whether by generational choices or self-exile — to the fringes of indie, alternative hip hop. Maybe it will take Kanye to reign him in.

Lyfe Jennings Sentenced to 3 and Half Years in Prison
R&B singer Life Jennings was sentenced to three and a half years behind bars yesterday in an Atlanta court for a 2008 indictment.
“This will be my last post” Jennings wrote yesterday on his Twitter. “To everyone who gave me a chance I am forever in your debt. I have had a fabulous career because of you. All I can say in parting is that I have been honest with [ya\'ll]. I didn’t sugarcoat a word didn’t hold back a single [syllable] of my life from [ya\'ll]. I’ve lived a hundred lives in these 6 yrs so I not only won’t,I don’t have the right to complain. I would like to think that I’ve changed lives by changing my own, tho[ugh] I can’t be sure. But one thing I am sure of is God gives and takes away in measure. He is fair, just and forever. Amen from a man… Smile, its contageous:)”
In October 2008, the “Statistics” singer got into a heated confrontation with ex-girlfriend and mother of his children Joy Pound. Jennings reportedly kicked in the door of a house in Smyrna, Georgia, belonging to Jeff Kendrick, then fired rounds from a .40 caliber glock in the street according to police.
Jennings then fled the scene in his 2005 Corvette and according to his warrant allegedly refused to stop for officers when given audible and visual signs to do so. Driving in excess of 70 miles per hour, Jennings was eventually stopped and refused to take a sobriety test.
Kanye & Jay-Z’s Watch The Throne Drops 11/23
The five song album with Jay that Yeezy promised the world on Twitter nearly a month ago is scheduled to drop on November 23rd (that’s about 9 G.O.O.D. Friday releases away,). “Monster” is supposed to be the single, for which there are already plans to shoot a video for, and the second single should be arriving within the next two weeks. It might also be released on Def Jam, which is a possibility since that’s where Kanye is signed to.

Pusha T Talks G.O.O.D. Deal & Solo Career
If his signing to G.O.O.D. is a solo situation or if it includes he and his brother: As we speak right now, it’s a solo situation. We’ve been in talks about including the Clipse album as well.
How Malice feels about his decision to pursue a solo career: We’re still making music. He’s actually working on a book and a film right now, so his “down time” isn’t so down. It’s something we’ve always discussed just with having the whole Re-Up Gang situation. We were just like we need to expand on the brand as much as possible. If that means putting out a Clipse album, a Re-Up Gang album, a solo album , anything that just makes the brand grow.
An update on his Fear Of God mixtape: I don’t have the features, so I don’t really want to say just yet. It’s just about being the first solo perspective of myself and seeing me in that light. Of course, it will always be street and lyric driven Hip-Hop. I think the dichotomy of the Clipse is one of those things where Malice is more of the thinker and the introspective one and I’m usually known as the wordplay one or the one who is a bit more brash. When we attack records, he usually takes that part and I usually take the wordplay aspect. But it’s not that I don’t think or I’m not introspective or have a conscious side to me. So I think you’re going to see all of those sides of me on the mixtape.
He says he’s about to get in the studio with Bangladesh and Pharrell for his solo debut and that he’s already got a few joints done with Kanye, he talks about if he feels torn between the Wale/Kid Cudi situation (he doesn’t,) if his VMA performance was any indication that his fashion style might change, wearing suits (he says he was in a suit on the HHNF cover?,) the Clipse sitting out this new Drake tour, and when asked of his thoughts on the Jim Jones/Cam’ron version of Runaway… “haven’t heard it, is it good?”
